Africa-Press – Tanzania. TOP riders Young Africans yesterday climaxed the Premier League’s first round with flying colours, following their clean 3-0 victory over Ihefu at Sokoine Stadium in Mbeya yesterday. At the end of the league’s half season, Yanga are firm at the helm with 43 points and they are 11-point superior to their closest pursuers, Simba, who have three matches in hand.
Simba will pocket 9 points if they win their remaining matches to end the half season with 41 maximum points. It was their third win by a big margin after recording 5-0 and 3-1 wins in their previous two matches against Mwadui and Dodoma Mji.
The newly signed forward, Saidi Ntibazonkiza was indeed a classy player as he displayed an outstanding performance same as his first encounter where he contributed for his club by scoring the second goal in 3-1 victory over Dodoma jiji at Sheikh Amri Abeid in Arusha. Yanga’s speedy winger Deus Kaseke has now become a regular scorer for Yanga and it was him who netted the opener early in the 13th minute. Kaseke scored from a close range from Saido Ntibazonkiza assist.
They held on to lead 1-0 at the end of the first half. Yanga came strongly in the second half banking much on Kaseke-Ntobazonkiza partnership upfront.
It didn’t take them long to double their lead as it was in the 50th minute when Yacouba Sogne added the second after a good combination with his fellow players.
Yanga continued to raid Ihefu area despite having a convincing lead and their efforts paid off in the 60th minute when Feisal Salum added the third goal after completing a set piece created by Deus Kaseke. Yanga have ended the half season with 28 goals from 17 matches.
The loss was bad to Ihefu as they have dropped to the 17th position having collected three victories, four draws and lost ten games. They have dropped to the 17th place after collecting 13 points equivalent to Mbeya City who are superior by goal difference.
At Jamhuri stadium in Dodoma, JKT Tanzania punished their visitor Kinondoni Municipal Council with 2-0 drub. Danny Lyanga was JKT’s lethal striker, scoring a brace in the 52nd and 74th minutes of the game
