Yanga: Preseason drills are foolproof

Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans said they are taking all necessary procedures to enable them stage a conduct a fruitful pre-season in their bid to have a competitive squad ideal for the 2022/23 season’s challenges.

The defending champions who chose to conduct their pre-season drills in the country, officially began training sessions on Friday at Avic Town in Kigamboni in Dar es Salaam.

In his remarks, the team’s Assistant Coach Cedric Kaze reiterated that they are aware how difficult next season will be that is why all necessary procedures on how to have a good pre-season are considered.

“In order to have a good season, then you also need to have a great pre-season and we are currently working on improving fitness of players so that when the campaign unfolds, they should be in combat mood.

“In the upcoming season, we will have many matches to play in the Premier League, Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) as well as in the CAF Champions League, hence this camp is very important,” he said.

However, the Jangwani street giants will have a big task to manage in the approaching season as they are compelled to defend three domestic trophies they bagged last season.

Their traditional rivals Simba and Azam are likely to be the main challengers for the throne and have also made significant signings to beef up their squads ahead of the new season.

Both Simba and Azam are currently polishing up in Egypt where they have pitched their pre-season camps and it remains a big puzzle if the duo can meet for a friendly match outside the boundaries which can have a positive impact for both sides.

So far, Yanga have already parted ways with four domestic players; Yassin Mustapha, Balama Mapinduzi, Deus Kaseke and Paul Godfrey who will not be part of Nasreddine Nabi’s brigade for next term.

Meanwhile, Kaseke, Mustapha and Godfrey have joined debutants Singida Big Stars where they will parade their skills in the forthcoming campaign. They have joined other former Yanga players, Amis Tambwe and Juma Abdul.

Also, the club announced the departure of Chico Ushindi who is reportedly to have rejoined o his former employer TP Mazembe while Yacouba Sogne has also faced the axe.

So far, Yanga have not made local signings but successfully sealed deals of five foreign based players who are Lazarous Kambole, Gael Bigirimana, Bernard Morrison, Stephane Aziz Ki and Lomanisa Motambala.
