Africa-Press – Tanzania. TANZANIA’S continental envoys Young Africans and Singida Black Stars will be in action today, both seeking to overturn first-leg setbacks and secure qualification in their respective CAF competitions.

Yanga face Malawi’s Silver Strikers in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round return leg at the Benjamin Mkapa Stadium today, needing to overturn a 1–0 deficit, while Singida Black Stars will look to capitalise on their 1–1 away draw against Flambeau du Centre of Burundi in the CAF Confederation Cup.

Following their first-leg loss in Lilongwe, Yanga will need a victory by a margin of two or more goals to book their spot in the group stage of the CAF Champions League.

Ahead of the match, Yanga Caretaker Coach, Patrick Mabedi believes his charges are ready for the challenge.

“We know the pressure is big, especially from our fans. But what matters most is to perform well and move forward. The players are well prepared and fully focused on fighting for the club’s badge,” Mabedi said during a pre-match press conference at the club’s headquarters – Jangwani.

Team Captain, Dickson Job echoed the coach’s optimism and called on fans to pack the stadium. “We ask all Yanga supporters to come in large numbers to cheer us, their energy gives us the motivation to perform better,” he said.

Silver Strikers’ Head Coach, Etson Mwafulirwa, acknowledged the magnitude of the task but remained hopeful.

“We know Young Africans are one of the best teams in East Africa and that the atmosphere in Dar es Salaam will increase match intensity, but we are ready. All our players are fit and focused,” he said.

In the Confederation Cup, Singida Black Stars return home full of belief after earning an important 1–1 draw in Burundi. Head Coach, Miguel Gamondi, said the team has learned from its first-leg mistakes and is focused on finishing the job.

“The first leg gave us confidence and motivation. We have learned from our mistakes and are ready to finish the job,” Gamondi noted.

Player Hussein Masalanga added that the team is motivated to make the nation proud.

“Our goal is to ensure Tanzanian clubs continue to shine in CAF competitions,” he said.
