Africa-Press – Tanzania. YOUNG Africans have a chance to seal a treble of titles as they face Coastal Union in the Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) final at Sheikh Amri Abeid Stadium in Arusha today.

The Premier League champions are eyeing to decorate their cupboard with one more silverware before they begin preparations for the 2022/23 season which among others are the CAF Interclub games.

So far, they have already bagged two domestic titles which are Community Shield and NBC Premier League Championship hence all eyes are now on the ASFC trophy.

If they succeed to win, then the Jangwani street side will set another glorious record of becoming the first team to clinch three trophies without a defeat after picking the league title unscratched in all their 30 matches.

As such; they are aware how important today’s game is to them since aside from winning, they will stamp a unique reputation for themselves to continue scaling up on the country’s football standards.

However, facing Coastal Union especially in the final has never been a soft game hence people are expecting to witness a beautiful encounter whereby a side with adequate preparations plus a bit of luck will walk away as ASFC winners.

The Tanga based giants have already expressed their interest to represent the country in the upcoming CAF Confederation Cup, a privilege which ASFC winners enjoy.

Also, if they win, it will be the first time for them to cherish the silverware as they have never grabbed it before a feat which gives them momentum to do whatever it takes to annex the title.

To reach this far, Coastal Union defeated Azam 6-5 on post match penalties after 122 minutes of play (normal plus extra time) elapsed goalless thereby attracting penalties to separate the two sides.

It was therefore a 50-50 encounter meaning that even Azam had an upper advantage to sail into the finals but they lacked that opportunity on the day which went in favour of their opponents.

On the other hand, Yanga eliminated their traditional rivals Simba courtesy of a 1-0 triumph at CCM Kirumba Stadium in Mwanza in one of the thrilling semifinals of the contest.

A long range effort by Feisal Salum was enough to give his side hope of winning a treble of titles and that mission could amicably be completed today and it still remains a puzzle as to whether the champions will be produced in normal play, extra time or via penalties.
