Africa-PressTanzania. IN its efforts to promote a digital community, Zantel Tanzania has launched a digital village aimed at educating citizens on the use of the internet to access e-learning and e-commerce services for socio-economic progress.

The move is part of its ‘Pasua Anga Ki Zantel 4G’ campaign that intends to educate the masses on the importance of the 4G internet for social and economic progress.

The initiative is in line with Zantel’s mission of leading the adoption of the internet and the overall digital lifestyle in its markets.

Digital Village is an internet-based area that allows people to do various online services that will be located at Kisonge grounds in Unguja.

Speaking during the launch, Zantel’s Brand Manager-Zanzibar, Ms Rukia Mtingwa said the digital village will serve residents of Zanzibar for two months, where they will learn various online services including e-learning and online business, freely.

“If you have talent, business or you are passionate about improving online skills this is the right space for you. We have experts who will teach how to use various digital platforms to elevate skills and talents,”

She added “The e-learning service is not only for school and college students, but even for people with various talents and businesses can learn through the internet the best ways of upgrading and promoting their works. For instance, business owners can learn how to take their business online and improve revenues.”

Ms Mtingwa further said traders have the opportunity to find new markets online. Through the Digital Village facility, they will learn how to use networks to sell and advertise their businesses to access local and international markets. The same goes for farmers and manufacturers of various products.

Along with the digital village, the company has also introduced a digital challenge that gives people the opportunity to share anything that they have created through the support of the internet and get rewards up to 300,000/-.

She urged all Zanzibar residents to visit the Digital Village during the given period of two months so they can learn the importance of using the 4G network for their economic gains apart from chatting with friends on social media.
