Africa-Press – Tanzania. PREPARATIONS have kicked off for the Zanzibar Investment Summit 2025 in Pemba, a pivotal event aimed at accelerating economic transformation and positioning Pemba as a key investment destination.
Zanzibar Minister of State, Office of the President – Labour, Economy and Investment, Mr Sharif Ali Sharif said at a press conference recently that the planned summit will take place from May 7th to 8th, this year, at the designated investment grounds in Micheweni, Pemba.
“We expect President Dr Hussein Mwinyi to serve as the guest of honour. His presence underscores the government’s dedication to fostering a business-friendly environment and driving sustainable economic growth in Pemba region,” Mr Sharif said.
He said that under the theme ‘Pemba is Open and it is Time for Pemba’, the summit will provide a strategic platform for engagement between investors, business leaders and government representatives.
“Discussions will focus on policy frameworks, investment incentives and opportunities in key sectors such as tourism, infrastructure, agriculture and the blue economy,” Mr Sharif said.
He underlined that the government aims to showcase Pemba’s immense investment potential and create meaningful partnerships that will contribute to the island’s economic development.
The minister also emphasised the importance of the summit in laying the foundation for long-term prosperity, job creation and improved livelihoods for Pemba’s residents.
In addition to investment discussions, the Zanzibar Investment Summit 2025 will feature a range of engaging activities, including: business exhibitions showcasing investment opportunities and local enterprises and educational workshops on investment policies as well as business development.
The summit will also feature tourism excursions to highlight Pemba’s attractions and untapped potential and Sports and cultural events to foster networking in a relaxed environment.
Zanzibar Investment Promotion Authority (ZIPA) Executive Director, Mr Saleh Saad Mohamed highlighted the importance of the summit as a catalyst for unlocking economic opportunities on the island.
Mr Mohamed said: “The summit is expected to attract over 300 investors from outside Tanzania, offering them an opportunity to explore business prospects in Zanzibar’s growing economy.”
He said that the Zanzibar Government extends a warm invitation to local and international investors, financial institutions, business leaders and development partners to participate in the transformative event.
With Pemba poised for significant economic expansion, he said the summit presents a unique opportunity to engage in high-impact investment projects and contribute to the island’s economic evolution.
