Africa-Press – Tanzania. DEPUTY Speaker and Ilala MP (CCM), Mussa Zungu, has officially bid farewell to fellow lawmakers and parliamentary staff, delivering a heartfelt message of encouragement as the 12th Parliament nears its end.

Speaking shortly after the Q&A session in Parliament today, June 20, 2025, Zungu reflected on his five-year journey in office and outlined five key principles he believes will guide MPs back to the 13th Parliament.

“I want to thank everyone for the way we’ve worked together. I thank God first, and I thank the Speaker for his leadership and guidance. To the MPs, without you, nothing moves. I also extend my gratitude to the parliamentary staff, the Clerk, and his entire team,” he said.

Zungu explained that he took the opportunity to give his farewell remarks now, as he will not be part of next week’s parliamentary sessions.

He offered special thanks to the people of Ilala for the trust they placed in him throughout his tenure.

In his message, Zungu urged MPs to return to their constituencies with confidence, maturity, and integrity.

He called on them to campaign respectfully, remain compassionate toward citizens facing hardship, and pay special attention to vulnerable groups such as orphans and low-income earners.

“Go back to your constituencies with facts and data showcasing the achievements of President Samia. That’s how you and she will both win re-elections. If you don’t have the figures, reach out to the relevant ministers, they’ll provide them,” he advised.

President Samia Suluhu Hassan is scheduled to address the National Assembly on June 27, 2025, marking the official conclusion of the 12th Parliament.

Following her address, the official date for the dissolution of Parliament will be announced in the Government Gazette to pave the way for the upcoming general elections.
