AfricaPress-Tanzania: A TOTAL of 68m/- was raised in Dodoma when Heads of Security Organs and Regional Commissioners (RCs) met for a brief fundraising for the construction of Chamwino Mosque in Dodoma.
The amount makes a total of 142m/- that so far has been raised since President John Magufuli initiated the fundraising last Sunday for the building of the Mosque at Chamwino.
Speaking during the event to hand over the money to the project contractor, SUMA JKT, A National Service, Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) General Venance Mabeyo,said they contributed 30m/-for mission.
“We join President Magufuli efforts to ensure people from all walks of religious faith have standard places for worship,” said General Mabeyo.
Moreover, he said, his commanders donated an additional 10.5m/- for the construction, adding that he was optimistic that more will be contributed towards that mission.
Chairman of Mainland Regional Commissioner’s, Evarist Ndikilo on his part handed over 26m/- to the Chief of National Service, Major General, Charles Mbuge, being the project contractor to support the Chamwino mosque construction.
He said the sum is from 26-Mainland Regional Commissioners as they support President Magufuli’s thirst that all neighbouring faith-based denominations have decent worship places.
At the occasion, Simiyu Regional Commissioner, Anthony Mtaka handed to Major General Mbuge an additional 2m/- from Africa Inland Church-Mabuluja in Busega District for the mosque construction.
Speaking after receiving the sum, Major General Mbunge said they will work day and night to complete the task within a short time, whereas before the yesterday fund, they had in pocket 73.1m/- raised by well-wishers.
Chamwino District Sheikh, Suleiman Matitu thanked for the support saying that before God all human beings are equal.
With over 500-households in the district, he said, the Mosque construction would be ideal, because they need each and every one to serve God.
