AfricaPress-Tanzania: The PRESIDENT of Zanzibar and Chairman of the Revolutionary Council Dr. Hussein Ali Mwinyi has called on the Defense and Security Forces to expand the scope of sugarcane farming activities, to enable the Mahonda Sugar factory to have adequate raw materials.
Dr. Mwinyi said this today in Mahonda, Unguja North Region, when he visited the factory and looked at the entire sugar production process as well as talking to management, workers, representatives of foreign farmers and representatives of the SMZ forces.
He called on the Defense and Security Forces, including Training, JKU and KVZ through their manpower, agricultural tools as well as available land to increase efforts and increase sugarcane production in their areas.
He said the current state of agriculture in the forces was not in line with the actual capacity of the forces, so he urged them to increase production on the grounds that it would increase their income level.
