IAA BRINGS TANZANIANS CLOSER TO CHINA

AfricaPress-Tanzania: WITH the number of Tanzanians interacting with Chinese nationals increasing, there is need for them to speak the same language.

This necessity, fortunately, forced the Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) to come up with a special course, where students get the opportunity to learn Chinese and cultural values.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam on Friday while unveiling the new institute’s campus in Kijitonyama area in Dar es Salaam, the Rector of the higher learning institution, Professor Eliamini Sedoyeka said after a thorough survey, they came to the conclusion that more Tanzanians need to learn Chinese.

He said that in Arusha, which is one of the country’s top tourist attraction area, a tour guide who is fluent in English can earn 30 to 50 dollars per day, while a tour guide who is fluent in Chinese can earn up to 300 dollars per day.

“Apart from this, nowadays most Tanzanian business people go to China to purchase their goods, which will make it easier for them to interact with Chinese traders if they can speak the same language, which will also reduce cases of being conned,” he said.

Prof Sedoyeka further said that apart from that, with the industrialization drive being championed by the fifth phase government, currently there are numerous ongoing projects being implemented by Chinese companies in almost all the regions in the country, which gives Tanzanians fluent in Chinese an added advantage of securing employment.

Apart from introducing various new courses which has influenced the growing number of students in the institution, Prof Sedoyeka said they have also introduced Multimedia course, which is custom made for upcoming and practicing journalists.

He said that with the increasing number of blogs and online media outlets, the course will assist the student to become more advanced to possess the ability to multitask, which will give them the upper hand in the fierce market.
