AfricaPress-Tanzania: MOSHI Zonal Referral Hospital (KCMC) in Kilimanjaro Region has developed a special facemask to protect them against the deadly disease while on duty.

Speaking on the developments on behalf of KCMC Executive Director (EDR), Prof Gilead Masenga, Public Relations Officer (PRO), Gabriel Chisseo said the move was one of the preventive measures to protect its staff against Covid-19 caused by coronavirus.

“KCMC Hospital has continued taking various precautions to protect its staff and patients as well as all those who come to the hospital for whatever reason and one of them is the introduction of facemasks for our staff,” he said. The facemask was designed and produced by the institution’s orthopedic technologists.

“As the world continues fighting against this dangerous disease we as an institution continue embarking on measures to protect our staff because if they are affected the hospital will be affected and if the hospital is affected, it means the entire community that relies on KCMC services will also be affected,” he stressed.

He was raising public awareness, especially to patients arriving at the hospital to continue taking precautions against the Covid-19 disease.

“We have already issued various guidelines for those arriving at the hospital, including all visitors to wear facemasks before entering the hospital area. We advise all people to adhere to the guidelines to avoid the spread of new infections,” he insisted.
