MAGUFULI MOURNS DEATHS OF 15 PASSENGERS

AfricaPress-Tanzania: PRESIDENT John Magufuli on Saturday mourned the death of 15 Tanzanians who died in a tragic road accident in Ngara District, Kagera Region.

The head of state sent his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families through Kagera Regional Commissioner (RC), Brig-Gen Marco Gaguti, wishing the injured a quick recovery so that they can rejoin their families soon.

β€œI am saddened by the deaths of our fellow Tanzanians who lost their lives in this accident. I pray for the relatives, friends and families of the deceased to persevere during this difficult time of mourning,” Dr Magufuli said while in Karatu District.

In his statement of the condolence message which was signed by the Director of Presidential Communication, Mr Gerson Msigwa, President Magufuli added: β€œTo lose fellow Tanzanians in such big numbers is painful,” The accident occurred yesterday at around 9:00 am, 10 people died on the spot while five others died later while at the hospital.

A total of 18 others sustained serious injuries in an accident that occurred at Kumnyange village involving a bus owned by Emirates Company.

Dr Magufuli used the opportunity to remind road users, especially motorists, to adhere to road safety rules to avoid unnecessary accidents.

He also called on traffic police to take measures against road users who violate traffic rules.
