AfricaPress-Tanzania: The Director General of the National Institute for Drug Research (NIMR), Professor Yunus Mgaya, said Tanzania is not ashamed to rush into vaccinations and instead urged them to be patient as for a vaccine study to be completed it must go through four steps that can take up to 10 years.
Professor Mgaya said the vaccines that are being offered are not of professional quality to be used by humans because for the vaccine to reach the point of human consumption it must go through four main stages.

The first stage after the vaccine is developed goes through an experimental stage where it is tested on animals like rats, chimpanzees and not humans. After successful testing the vaccine goes through the next step in obtaining approval to be published in scientific journals.

Professor Mgaya said the third step is to test a few human beings from different countries around the world where the exercise will take more than three years.

He said if the vaccine works well, the fourth step is to test for more people an exercise that can take four years and if things are good the vaccine will be distributed in markets for businesses in various countries.

“Surprisingly this vaccine did not cross until the next step was sent to the market a situation that is causing great fear to consumers, that’s why in Tanzania we have decided to have our system to deal with Corona we cut a lot, eat ginger and lemon, we are safe,” stressed Professor Mgaya
