TANESCO ACTION ON POWER OUTAGE IMPRESSES MINISTER

AfricaPress-Tanzania: MINISTER for Energy, Dr Medard Kalemani, has said he is satisfied with the Tanesco board of directors for addressing various power woes in the country.

Accompanied by his Deputy Minister Subira Mgalu, Permanent Secretary Zena Said and other senior ministry officials, Dr Kalemani, while meeting the board of directors, said although there were several challenges power outage was disheartening.

“One of the tasks accomplished by the board is to address power outages in various parts of the country. You have addressed them to a considerable extent. Power outages rarely occur these days and the main reason is the maintenance of the electrical infrastructure taking place in many parts of the country,” he explained.

However, he urged the board to continue ensuring the challenge was continually addressed.

Dr Kalemani also commended the board for overseeing the implementation of various power projects and urged them to ensure their projects were timely completed.

In another development, the minister called upon the board to continue developing some strategies that would increase the number of customers connected to power annually and increase revenue collection.

He tasked them to monitor and find lasting solutions to other problems facing them.

Speaking on behalf of his colleagues, the board chairperson, Mr Alexander Kyaruzi, thanked the minister for trusting them, vowing to further improve their performance and address future challenges.
