AfricaPress-Tanzania: ACT – Wazalendo has highlighted its plan on developing sports, arts and entertainment with the chief being establishing sports academy, should it win the October 28th, 2020 General Elections.
According to the party’s 2020-2025 election manifesto the coming ACT-Wazalendo government, if elected by wananchi on October 28, this year will facilitate investment in sports academies in all eight zones of the country, including encouraging public organizations to establish and run various sports teams.
The 62-page document launched on Monday in Dar es Salaam ahead of the general elections further highlighted the plan to establish a National Stadiums Agency that will build, develop and maintain stadiums in collaboration with local government authorities and the private sector.
The manifesto further states that the ACT – Wazalendo government will finance a national tournament for all regional teams across Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, starting with football and progressing to other sports as well. Through state agencies, they will build five arenas for art and entertainment.
“We will build five arenas in Dar es Salaam, Arusha, Mwanza, Mbeya and Dodoma to ensure art is e given its status and value besides making Tanzanians enjoy a beautiful sporting environment,” reads part of the document.
In implementing that, the ACT- Wazalendo government plans to restore to the government all looted open spaces and set aside new open spaces for sports and recreation, their government will also enter into partnerships with women’s and youth groups to ensure that open spaces are used for recreation, leisure and employment for young people.
Moreover, the manifesto states that the government if put into power, will finance national tournament for all regional teams across Tanzania Mainland and Zanzibar, starting with football and progressing to other sports as well.
The document also revealed that the party will provide a tax exemption for businesses that invest in sports, and establishing sports academies.
The move will go in line with creating a foreign policy in which, sport and recreation will be one of the priorities of cooperation with other countries.
On collaborating with Tanzanian book associations, the party plans to create a better system for investing in the writing industry that will make writing a more productive job that attracts local and foreign investors.
