AfricaPress-Tanzania: MUSICIAN Aliaune Damala Badara Thiam, ‘Akon’ has arrived in Uganda on a business tour.
Akon, a Senegalese national who is also a US citizen, has left for Uganda after his wife, Rozina Negusir, recently visited the country.
Negusir met with President Museveni and discussed various investment projects that could be undertaken, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Akon was received by Abbey Walusimbi, the President’s senior adviser on foreign affairs, musician Eddie Kenzo, officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Uganda Tourism Board, and Sheikh Ramadhan Mulindwa from the Supreme Council of Muslims.
According to the Ugandan Foreign Ministry, during his visit Akon is also expected to meet with President Yowel Museveni to discuss various investment opportunities in various sectors of energy, tourism, infrastructure development and more.
In 2018 Akon announced a plan to build a modern city for US $ 6 billion in Senegal under the name “Akon City”.
The Senegalese Government-backed project will include luxury hotels, music studios, supermarkets and other attractions.
