AfricaPress-Tanzania: PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has issued her appreciation to music artists for composing mourning songs following the departure of beloved President John Magufuli last Wednesday due to heart disease.

During the state funeral, the President noted, “I thank our artistes for the songs they have been composing to comfort us throughout the mourning period as I said earlier today is a very difficult day (yesterday) for I am overwhelmed with grief and great sorrow.”

It is with sadness the nation lost an iconic leader President John Magufuli and artists have been composing mourning songs to comfort the nation in these difficult times.

The Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa as well sincerely acknowledged how artists showed their support in composing those songs and assured the public that the artists will continue to provide mourning service songs throughout the 21 days of mourning.

The Premier noted this during the state funeral of the departed Tanzania’s iconic leader, President Magufuli at Jamhuri Stadium where musicians sang mourning songs to offer comfort for the multitude of people who showed up.

“I would like to thank groups that have actively participated, groups such as artists, who have continued to sing mourning songs,” said the Prime Minister. “And you know the mourning is 21 days our artistes have assured us they will continue to provide this service through the media by composing more songs as it is an emotional and painful moment to lose our leader, who is here today to say goodbye.”

Among the groups of artists who appeared and performed during the state funeral included Tanzania One Theatre (T.O.T) band and Tanzania All Stars.

The T.O.T band opened the carousel with a song of mourning describing President Magufuli as an important rock for Tanzanians who served all especially the vulnerable group.

With sadness they expressed their grievances – how much they are touched and how much they still needed him. It is indeed his departure that has brought great sadness to the nation.

“It is a hard time and a year of sorrow for all Tanzanians from the Islands to the mainland – dear President John Magufuli we will never see you again. The late Magufuli in his time on earth, he accomplished all he had planned. Dear President John Magufuli we will miss you, we will never see you again.”

“Go President John Magufuli we will never see you again; he was an advocate for the weak, he died defending Tanzanians resources for the benefit of the weak.”

Tanzania All Stars followed on stage later, and sang grievances remembering the day when the news of the tragedy was released adding that it was like a dream wishing to be awakened as it is big and dark.

“… When I heard the voice of Mama Samia when she told us that Magufuli had left us, I was puzzled but I persevered because our faith tells us, we shall all pass this world. May God bless you (late President Magufuli) and put you in paradise.”

“… I feel like it’s a dream and it’s huge and growing. We were in a journey together why did you leave us; I can’t even bear it… ” With sadness they thanked the late President Magufuli for bringing to the nation a super woman President Samia Suluhu. But they also reminded the late of the hats he offered them when he was alive in the 2020 general election campaign.

“… But you left us a Superwoman, Super mama Samia…go Dad we will meet again. I will remember the hat you gave me during the campaign.”
