AfricaPress-Tanzania: EXIM bank has launched a new digital awareness campaign aimed at encouraging its customers to embrace cashless economy and enhance easy financial access digitally.

Making the revelation in Dar es Salaam, yesterday the bank’s Retail Banking Head, Andrew Lyimo, said the move was in light of the recent social behavior change to cope with emergencies like global Covid-19 pandemic.

He said in the campaign, dubbed ‘Maliza Kirahisi Kidigitali,’ it will run throughout the remaining part of the year and enable customers to perform different banking transactions anytime and anywhere using the bank’s mobile and online options.

“Maliza Kirahisi Kidigitali campaign is aimed at transforming user behavior and further accelerating the country’s ongoing shift from cash to digital payments especially during in course of the recent pandemic,” he said.

Over the past few months as the world grappled with the pandemic, the bank chose to focus on ramping up digital operations to enable its customers conduct financial transactions in a safe and secure way, while in their homes.

“So, the campaign is also in line with supporting the government’s vision to promote a cashless economy on top of ensuring that our clients are served without having to go to branches physically,” he added.

Elaborating, Mr Lyimo said: “To make transactions more efficient and convenient for our customers, the bank announced the following available options in facilitating easier transactions, citing some as mobile banking either through USSD or smart phones, bouquet of cards, vast POS network as well as online banking via web or app, where customers are able to access services and perform transactions twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week with ease.”

On his part, the bank’s Marketing and Communications Head, Mr Stanley Kafu said: “Through our digital services customers can access their accounts, and make bank transactions conveniently from their homes or anywhere else, and in turn have more time for other important matters in their everyday personal or work lives,”

The latest ‘Maliza Kirahisi Kidigitali’ campaign follows the Cash Management Solutions awareness campaign that was launched by the bank last year and aimed at enabling its clients to have access to a slew of customized products like Cash-In-Transit service, Host to Host services, Corporate Cheque Capture service and Cash Deposit Machines services among others.

“Both campaigns aim at putting innovative financial services at the fingertips of its growing customer base and Exim Bank is always at work today for a better tomorrow through providing more financial freedom,” added Mr Kafu.
