AfricaPress-Tanzania: TANZANIA’S Consul General in Dubai, Shabaan Khatib Baraza has promised to assist local livestock keepers who want to sell meat and related products to the United Arab Emirates to get permits, adding their market is big enough for business.

Speaking at the beginning of his visit to the 26th Gulfood 2021 Trade Fair in Dubai held every year, Khatib said market for meat products in the United Arab Emirates is huge, because the citizens love meat from Tanzania.

“I promise to give you more cooperation so you obtain permits to sell meat or related products in the United Arab Emirates… these kingdoms require a lot of beef from Tanzania and the market is big because of its natural taste,” he pointed out.

Commenting on the fair, TANCHOICE Sales Manager, Mussa Mushi said although it was their first time to participate, they learnt a lot about other countries exporting meat products to the kingdom.

He said through the exhibition they have discovered that Tanzanian meat is popular in many parts of the world, citing some as Oman and Kuwait.

Elaborating, Mr Mushi noted their company has been exporting 200 tonnes of fresh mutton and goat meat on monthly basis to the Emirates, but not accessed Dubai and Saudi Arabia, because of lack of permits.

“We are happy to participate and represent Tanzania in this exhibition and equally show how our country is blessed to have a large number of livestock with good taste. “However, among the challenges we are facing is obtaining permits from the country we expect to export our products to… we ask the Government of Tanzania in collaboration with the Ambassadors of various countries in the areas to facilitate our access to permits so that big markets are opened to Tanzanians,” said the manager.
