AfricaPress-Tanzania: NATIONAL Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) in Tanga region in the fiscal year 2019/20 disbursed 650m/- for the renovation and establishment of three units at Bombo Referral Hospital.

Those units are the Emergency Unit, Intensive Care Unit (ICU) and Mother and Child Healthcare Unit. Apart from that, also the fund is continuing to register pharmacy shops in the districts of Tanga region aimed at making sure that medication services of the fund are bringing close to its members.

NHIF Tanga Regional Manager, Ally Mwakababu made such a revelation in an exclusive interview with this paper.

He said the fund through its newly improved health packs of Timiza Afya, Najali Afya and Wekeza Afya in Tanga region targets to make sure that all people who are found through informal and formalization groups are all inclusive in the fund by joining in the fund aimed to omit mindset that the fund formed purposely for employees.

He said through the fund improvements in Tanga city there are two polyclinics whereby NHIF members will have ample chance to access health services and attending a specialist in the polyclinics at his/her own time rather than staying in queues in the referral hospital because the specialists would be available in those polyclinics.

“NHIF in Tanga are continuing to register pharmacy shops in the districts aimed to make sure all medication services become closer to people from district level to regional level because NHIF coordinators are available in each district at the District Medical Office,” he said.
