AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE Export and Processing Zones Authority (EPZA) has urged Simiyu Regional authority to put enabling environment in order to industrialise through the special economic zones and export processing zones.
The Authority’s Investment Promotion Manager, Grace Lemunge said creating conducive investment environment will attract local and foreign investors to grab immense investment potentials to boost regional economy but increase new employments.
“Investors go to a place where there is conducive environment particularly the infrastructure facilities like electricity, roads, water as well as supporting legal services,” she said at the presentation in a business to business meeting held in Simiyu as part of the activities in the ongoing 27th Agriculture exhibitions.
Simiyu has attractive investment opportunities and dedicated vibrant agricultural and livestock production. It is the leading cotton producing region as well as over 1.5 million cattle, 674,000 goats and 254,000 sheep population.
It’s a strategic location on Lake Victoria gives access to East African Community (EAC) export market linking with Kenya, Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
She told participants that investing through the export processing zones and special economic zones, investors are provided with a wide range of incentives and quick return on investments.
EPZA is well placed to offer a wide range of investors support services which include serviced land.
The Authority is mandated by law to acquire land in its name and lease or issue derivative rights to investors or erect thereon industrial and commercial buildings for lease to investors or manage private owned export processing zones and special export zones.
The basic onsite infrastructure for the SEZ is connected to dedicated power line, standby generators, tarmac road, railway and gas pipelines.
Also EPZA is required by law to supply offsite and onsite basic infrastructure for the purpose of special economic zones operations and usually work with private or local government authorities.
