AfricaPress-Tanzania: TANZANIA Bureau of Standards (TBS) is using the 5th Industrial Products Exhibition as important platform to raise the awareness of stakeholders on a need for acquiring a quality standard mark and for consumers using high quality goods.
Speaking at the ongoing Industrial Products Fair taking place at Julius Nyerere grounds along Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam, TBS Public Relations Officer Neema Mtemvu said the exhibition had been an opportunity to listen and meet various stakeholders.
“We used the platform to inform participants, manufacturers and other people on the need for using the TBS quality mark and consuming goods certified by the standard watchdog,” she said.
Ms Mtemvu said by acquiring the quality mark, manufacturers could penetrate easily and expand their local, regional and global markets to boost their earnings.
This is because East African regional partner states have harmonised their standards, thus making it easier for the products to penetrate the regional market.
She said the Industrial Products Fair was also a crucial platform for reaching entrepreneurs and informing them on the TBS quality standard mark which was provided for free.
“We welcome entrepreneurs at the TBS pavilion to get this free knowledge and then acquire the quality mark. They should first get an introductory letter from the Small Industries Development Organisation (SIDO) and through this, TSB can provide them with the quality mark,” she noted.
Ms Mtemvu said they used the fair to provide public awareness on the need to identify the quality standard mark from TBS before they purchased and consumed any product.
She advised businesspeople to improve the quality of their goods and ensure they met TBS standards that would help them remain competitive.
She said the response of the people on the TBS awareness campaign was positive during the 5th Industrial Products Fair taking place at Julius Nyerere Trade Fair grounds along Kilwa Road in Dar es Salaam.
