President Magufuli succumbed to Covid-19: opposition leader Tundu Lissu insists

Despite Tanzania’n government saying that the president of Tanzania John Pombe  Magufuli succumbed to heart attack complications  opposition leader Tundu Lissu still thinks otherwise.

Mr Lissu who started the speculation when he started asking questions over Magufuli  whereabouts, due to the fact that he had not been seen in public since the end of February. Lissu still thinks that Magufuli succumbed to Covid-19.

Tanzanian Vice-President Samia Suluhu Hassan on Wednesday night announced the death of of president Magufuli  61 year old on state television TBC.
And that he was taken to a Tanzanian hospital on 6 this month.

The President of the United Republic of Tanzania of Tanzania, the honourable Doctor John Pombe Joseph Magufuli.. (has) died of heart condition, at hospital Mzena in Dar es Salaam, wher he was receiving treatment,” said Mrs Hassan.

But Lissu said that he started asking questions after receiving the information from credible sources, who informed him about Magufuli’s situation, and also said that Magufuli died some time back he did not die on Wednesday.

“When i asked the question where is president Magufuli and what is his state of health, that point in time i had information from credible sources within the government that the president was gravely ill with Covid-19, and his situation was actuary very bad. So the news has not come to me as a surprise at all. The only thing that surprises me, is the fact that they continued to lie up to now.  Magufuli died of Corona. Number two Magufuli did not die this evening,  i have information that Magufuli is been died,” said Mr Lissu.

Magufuli’s Description

President John Pombe Magufuli  was born on 29 October 1959 in Tanganyika Tanzania in Chato District Geita. he studied in University of Dar es Salaam in 2009 and 1994.
He was first elected as a member of parliament in 19995

Magufuli has been one of Africa’s most prominent politician,who served as the fifth President of Tanzania from 2015 until his death 2021. He served as Minister of Works, Transport and Communications from 2000 to 2005 and was chairman of the Southern African Development Community from 2019 to 2020.

Magufuli has been Coronavirus sceptical

Tanzania’s Ministry of  Health confirmed its first Coronavirus case on the 16 March 2020, But in April same year president Magufuli stopped his government from releasing any figures on Coronavirus claiming that his country was virus-free. He told Tanzanians that Covid-19 can be healed by praying and using herbal infused steaming.

Magufuli questioned the standard of the lab equipments saying that they were giving false results.

He also claimed that he sent fake Covid-19 sample to the labs from goats and fruits and that some of them came out positive

According to Article 37 of Tanzanian constitution, the  Vice-President Samia Suluhu Hassan  61 year old who has been the first female Vice-President since 2015  is now  in charge of the country in the absence of the president now that the president is confirmed dead,
