AfricaPress-Tanzania: CCM parliamentary candidate in Bukoba Rural constituency, Dr Jasson Rweikiza, has appealed for harmony during the entire period of campaigns, urging people to vote in favour of presidential candidate Dr John Pombe Magufuli.
Similarly, he urged Tanzanians to utilize people-oriented programmes which were completed during the past five year period (2015-2020) to speed up development and increase their income.
He made the remarks during a campaign meeting held at Rubale Grounds in Bukoba Rural District on Thursday.
“Under the CCM-led government, several projects have been completed during the five-year period so far. The government has constructed health facilities and tarmac roads, in addition to instituting free education from primary to secondary levels. “Over 9,000 villages out of 12,000 in the country had been connected with electricity. People should utilize electricity to process and add value to their crops,” he said.
Elaborating, he said 80 villages out of 98 in Bukoba Rural District were connected with electricity while a district hospital and three health centres – Kishanje, Katoro and Maruku were constructed.
Mr Rweikiza explained that the World Bank (WB) declared Tanzania as a lower middle income country, five years ahead of the country’s 2025 development vision.
“The lower middle income countries (MICs) are defined as economies with a Gross National Income (GNI) per capita between US dollars 1036 and 4045 USD,” he said.
During the well-attended meeting, a member of the CCM National Executive Committee (NEC), Mr Wilbroad Mutabazi, cautioned CCM members in Bukoba Rural District to avoid past mistakes that led to 14 wards out of 29 to slide to the opposition camp in the 2015 polls.
“CCM members should unite and work as a team. We should avoid repeating the past mistakes,” he said.
