AfricaPress-Tanzania: CHAMA Cha Mapinduzi (CCM) has assured the public that the good work started by the late President John Magufuli will continue unabated, including defending poor Tanzanians.

CCM Central Committee of the National Executive Committee which has met in Dar es Salam assured that Tanzanians that the new leadership under President Samia Suluhu Hassan will continue implementing all the good things started by Dr Magufuli.

CCM Ideology and Publicity Secretary, Humphrey Polepole told journalists that his party urges Tanzanians to continue trusting their government because the government is guided by the party’s manifesto.

The Central Committee met to discuss, among other things, participation of party members in the funeral of their Chairman, Dr John Magufuli and the procedure of filling the vacancy left. He noted that the CC has directed the party to convene National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting any time from yesterday to endorse President Samia Suluhu Hassan as the new CCM Chairperson.

He said the CC described the late President Magufuli as a brave and courageous person who believed in leadership built on the basis of integrity and discipline for the party and government.

“Dr Magufuli also believed that Tanzania is a rich country, and it can use its own resources to bring development to its people … He also believed that Africa, including Tanzania, has the responsibility to fight and defend its economic independence,” he said.

He said that the late Magufuli was capable of translating CCM election manifesto as pledged to the public in the past five years, which enabled the implementation of many development activities.

Mr Polepole said Dr Magufuli and the then VP were well organized to proceed with the work done in the first term of their administration by implementing the party’s election manifesto for 2020 – 2025.

However, he called upon CCM members across the country to take part in paying their last respect to their fallen chairman.

He noted that during the national state funeral which will be held in Dodoma on March 22, Members of Parliament will also get an opportunity to pay their last respect to Dr Magufuli in Parliament.

“Since Dr Magufuli was part of the National Assembly, the party has directed MPs to be given an opportunity to bid a final farewell to the deceased,” he added.

Mr Polepole also added that the CC has also directed all members of the National Executive Committee (NEC) to attend the burial of Dr Magufuli scheduled for March 26 in Chato.
