AfricaPress-Tanzania: China has conveyed its deep condolences and sincere sympathies to the family and the government of Tanzania following the death of President John Magufuli.
China’s Foreign Ministry Spokesperson, Zhao Lijian said in a statement issued Thursday that Dr Magufuli was an outstanding leader and a staunch defender of national sovereignty against foreign interference.
“He led the Tanzanian people in advancing national economic and social development and enjoyed their strong support,” the statement added.
Dr Magufuli, according to the statement, made important contributions to bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The spokesperson added that the Asian economic powerhouse highly values its profound traditional friendship with Tanzania and insisted that, “At this moment of grief, the Chinese people’s hearts are with our friends in Tanzania.”
