AfricaPress-Tanzania: KILINDI District Council in Tanga Region has set aside about 63m/- as 10 per cent of its income from the fiscal year 2019/20 to loan entrepreneurial groups in the district.

Kilindi District Executive Director (DED) Gracian Makota said this on a brief occasion of handing over 10 motorcycles to ‘bodaboda’ groups operating within the district.

He noted that the money used to purchase motorcycles was a part of 10 per cent of the district council’s income from the fiscal year 2019/20.

He said in the fiscal year 2019/20, the district council had issued 63m/- loans without interest to entrepreneurial groups, mostly targeting the youth, women and people with disabilities.

For his part, Kilindi Constituency MP Omari Kigua called on group leaders to ensure they got proper training, which would enable them to benefit with the loans.

He challenged the youth who were provided with the motorcycles to observe road safety and run their business diligently.

Kilindi District CCM Youth Wing (UVCCM) Chairman Rasul Shandala cautioned loan beneficiaries to ensure they did their business legally and avoid dealing in illegal goods.
