President John Magufuli, who is the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces, on Saturday, March 30, 2019 commissioned 146 Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) officers to the rank of second lieutenant.
The commissioning took place at the Magogoni State House in Dar es Salaam, and witnessed by various senior government officials, including Vice President Samia Suluhu Hassani and Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa.
Speaking after the commissioning, TMA Principal Brigadier General Steven Mkambe said out of the 146 commissioned army officers, 140 are men and six women.
“Four of the officers joined the training that started in 2017 after receiving training in Kenya and Mozambique,” said Mr Mkambe.
