AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE forthcoming general election has continued to trigger some new appointments in the government with replacements made yesterday by President John Magufuli featuring high profile names.

According to a statement issued to media outlets on Friday by the Directorate of Presidential Communication, President Magufuli appointed Dr Alloyce Nzuki as new Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism, replacing Prof Adolf Mkenda.

Prior to the new appointment, Dr Nzuki was the deputy Permanent Secretary in the ministry.

In his new role as Permanent Secretary for Natural Resources and Tourism ministry, Dr Nzuki will now be assisted by the Tanzania National Parks (Tanapa) Director General Dr Allan Kijazi after being appointed by the president as deputy Permanent Secretary.

Dr Kijazi replaces Dr Nzuki who has been promoted to the post of Permanent Secretary of the tourism ministry.

According to the press statement, despite assuming the new roles at the Ministry of Natural Resources and Tourism as new deputy Permanent Secretary Dr Kijazi will continue to serve as Tanapa director general.

The president has also appointed Engineer Anthony Sanga as the new permanent secretary in the Ministry of Water, replacing Prof Kitila Mkumbo who has picked CCM nomination forms to seek the party’s endorsement to vie for the Ubungo legislative seat.

Prior to his appointment, Engineer Sanga was deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of water.

The president has furthermore appointed Engineer Nadhifa Kemikimba as new deputy Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Water.

Prior to his appointment, Engineer Nadhifa Kemikimba was a director at the Ministry of Water.

The press statement further stated that President Magufuli has appointed Dr Jumanne Fhika as Njombe Regional Commissioner (RC), replacing Mr Christopher Ole Sendeka who has picked CCM nomination forms, seeking endorsement to vie for the Simanjiro legislative seat.

Prior to his appointment, Dr Fhika served in the Office of the president.

The statement cited Mr Fadhili Mohamed Juma as the new Geita District Commissioner in Geita Region.

He was previously Lindi regional CCM Chairperson, replacing Mr Josephat Paulo Maganga who is now the Dodoma District Commissioner, replacing Mr Patrobas Katambi.

All the appointees have been instructed to report to the State House in Chamwino in Dodoma Region next Monday.

Ole Sendeka joins the list of four Regional commissioners who have also picked CCM nomination forms seeking endorsement to vie for various legislative seats.

They include former Tabora RC Aggrey Mwanri, who retired recently and collected forms for Siha constituency and ex-Arusha RC Mrisho Gambo who is eyeing the Arusha Urban constituency seat.

Mr Paul Makonda, who has been Dar es Salaam RC since 2016, has opted to contest the Kigamboni Constituency seat in Dar es Salaam on the CCM ticket.

Meanwhile, former Kigoma RC retired Brigadier General Emmanuel Maganga, picked nomination forms seeking CCM’s candidacy for Mvomero constituency, and former Manyara RC Alexander Mnyeti has taken forms to apply for nomination to run for the Arusha Urban Constituency seat.

Meanwhile, President Magufuli has appointed Dr Seif Shekilage as Songwe Regional Administrative Secretary (RAS), replacing David Kafulila.

Prior to his appointment, Dr Shekilage was Maswa District Commissioner.

Other appointments made by President Magufuli include Mr Musa Chogelo, who becomes Ilala District Commissioner in Dar es Salaam, replacing Sophia Mjema.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Chogelo was working in the Office of the President.

The president also appointed Mr Aswege Kaminyonge as Maswa District Commissioner, filling the vacancy created by the appointment of Dr Shekilage as Songwe RAS.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Kaminyonge was Mbarali District Council’s Human Resources Officer.

Mr Calorius Misungwi has been appointed Kalambo District Commissioner in Rukwa Region, replacing Ms Julieth Binyura.

Prior to his appointment, Mr Misungwi was serving at the National Audit Office (NAOT).

Dr Athman Kihamia has been appointed Rombo District Commissioner in Kilimanjaro Region, replacing Ms Agnes Hokororo.

Before his appointment, Dr Kihamia was working in the Office of the President. Mr Lainie Kamendu has been appointed Kilolo District Council Executive Director, replacing Mr Aloyce Kwesi.

Before his new appointment, Mr Kamendu was Moshi Municipal Council treasurer.

In another development, Minister of State in the President’s Office (Public Service Management and Good Governance), Mr George Mkuchika, acting under the powers bestowed upon him by the president, has appointed Ms Hanan Bafagil as Arusha District Administrative Secretary( DAS), replacing Mr David Kihenzile.

Prior to her appointment, Ms Bafagil was Kinondoni Division Executive Officer.

All the appointees are required to be at Chamwino State House in Dodoma at 10.00am on Monday.
