SAME DC: LET’S WORK HARD TO SUPPORT JPM

AfricaPress-Tanzania: SAME residents in Kilimanjaro Region have been urged to support President John Magufuli to build an economically independent nation.

Speaking during the opening of the 18th annual general meeting of Same Kaya Savings and Credit Cooperative Society (Same Kaya Saccos) in Same recently, Same District Commissioner (DC), Rosemary Senyamule said after being sworn in to lead the country for another five-year term, President John Magufuli would not sleep to ensure the country succeeded twice as much as it was five years.

“Our hard work and productivity will support the vision and aspirations of President Magufuli, so we must all play our part so that the President may achieve his goals for the country and its people in general,” she said.

Ms Senyamule commended Same Kaya Saccos for great strides that had been made, including improving people’s lives and Same District’s economy as a whole through its services since Same Kaya Saccos’ inception.

“Since its inception 18 years ago, Same Kaya Saccos has been doing well to boost the district’s economic growth due to the good intentions of its leaders. May I take this opportunity to assure you  of the government’s support so that the achievements may be sustainable,” she said.

Outgoing Chairman of Same Kaya Saccos Elibariki Kisimbo said the institution continued achieving great strides since its inception, including an increase in the number of new members every year.

“The number of members has increased from 5,287 as by December 2019 to 5,881 by September 2020, and the information we have is that as we prepare for this annual general meeting, the number has reached more than 6,000 members,” he said.

Same Kaya Saccos General Manager Elvera Mdee said the value of Same Kaya Saccos’s shares had increased from 181,830,355/- as by December 2019 to 203,860,355/- by September this year.

“Same Kaya Saccos also received a dividend of 1.73m/- from the investments made at National Investments Company Limited (Nicol). For Same Kaya Saccos, this is great comfort to its members and its leaders because in the past the shares we had invested in Nicol were as if they were lost,” she said.
