AfricaPress-Tanzania: VICE President Samia Suluhu Hassan has urged CCM councilors to stop using council loans as an investment or political capital.
The Vice President said this today at his public meeting held at Tangamano Stadium in Tanga Region where he continues his five-day working visit. He said councilors have been using the money as capital and building themselves so he warned that the money should not be used politically.
Pursuant to local government finance law chapter 290 section 37 as the regulations for the provision and management of loans to groups of women, youth and people with disabilities of 2019 which apply to all Local Government Authorities in Mainland Tanzania, require councils use 10 percent of local revenue to provide loans to these special groups where women get four percent, youth four percent and the disabled two percent.
“You have been in the habit of using this money to build yourself politically, now I tell you, in the future so that your name goes back to running for councilorship it will come from this fund, Magufuli’s money is not, we have closed our eyes this period, period, we will not close our eyes again, I will eat with you one plate,” he said. Vice President, Samia Suluhu.
“Citizens, these loans are not for your councilors, when you are given a refund you are not taking it you are sharing it and you end up crying for treats, return it so that others can be lent, the goal is to get rid of it economically and not otherwise.” insisted Samia.
