AfricaPress-Tanzania: FEW days after President John Magufuli raised doubts over vaccines, the government on Monday said it will not accept Covid-19 vaccine.
Minister for Health, Community Development, Gender, Elderly and Children Dr Dorothy Gwajima told a press conference in the capital Dodoma that the ministry has no plans to receive vaccines for COVID-19.
In other countries, the vaccines which have already been received target health officers, children and other special groups.
Dr Gwajima said procedures would be followed before receiving any products related to vaccines.
She urged the general public to maintain hygiene practices and steam inhalation. Tanzania’s decision joins other countries including Australia which announced it won’t rush to approve Covid-19 vaccine until people get confidence in the product.
Chief Government Chemist Dr Fidelice Mafumiko suggested use of herbal medicine in curing the deadly virus, saying it safe.
