DIPLOMATIC GOLF TOUR: SIX NATIONS TO VIE FOR 2020 THRONE

AfricaPress-Tanzania: SEVERAL firms are on the way to bankroll the second edition of the Diplomatic Golf tournament to be staged in early November at Kili Golf Club course in Arusha.

With golfers from six countries heading to Arusha, the sponsors’ backing is likely to make the event more exciting in terms of competitiveness and prizes.

The Ministry for Foreign Affair and East Africa Cooperation and Zanzibar Tourism Board are the figureheads of the event set to tee off on November 7 this year.

The tournament will be played in a stable ford format and is open for men and ladies Diplomats, Chief Executive Officers (CEOs), and other golfers from the East African Community (EAC) and beyond.

One of the event’s organisers Reinfrida Rwezaura told the ‘Sunday News’ in the city yesterday that preparations have been going on well and everything is in place.

Rwezaura said they have already received good response from sponsors, as by yesterday there were about 13 companies which have agreed to back the one-day event.

She named them as CRDB Bank, Sea Cliff Casino, Tanfoam, Basil and Alfred, Jibu Water, Kilivilla, Siringit, House of Gems, Manta resorts, Lemala, MMI, European Business Group Tanzania and Centre for Foreign Relations (CFR).

“We are fortunate to have them in our tournament, we thank all of them for coming to rescue this important,” she said.

She added doors are still open for other wishing to bankroll the event as they are all welcome.

The tournament, according to the coordinator aims to raise funds for the children in need in Songea Municipal, Ruvuma Regional.

Additionally, Rwezaura said the event also aims at boosting sports tourism through golf and as well harmonising solidarity and enhance diplomatic integration.
