AfricaPress-Tanzania: NAMUNGO FC midfielder Reliants Lusajo has revealed that his massive performance in the ongoing Mainland Premier League has highly been contributed by strong unity within the club.
Until now, Lusajo has scored 11 goals for his side which sit fourth on the league table with 50 points from 28 clashes, only one point behind third placed occupants Young Africans who have garnered 51 points after 27 outings.
However, speaking recently, Lusajo kept on praising his teammates for putting in much effort to enable their team to remain one of the best despite trading in the top flight league for the first time.
“To a large extent, our great performance so far in the progressing league is due to the existing unity in the squad and we still have more time to show our potential,” he said.
He then pointed out his teammate Lucas Kikoti as one of the best midfielders in the country who are adding value to Namungo’s success this season.
“He (Kikoti) knows football a lot and has strong ability to play any style of pass something we highly appreciate in the team since we are able to get positive results from individual brilliance of some players,” he said.
Asked to name some of his best strikers in the top flight league, Lusajo named John Bocco and Meddie Kagere who play for the defending champions Simba SC.
“Bocco is a typical striker in the country to my side and it will take more time to get another scorer of his caliber,” he said.
From their 28 games, Namungo have won 14 matches, drew eight games and lost 6 matches in that order and have scored 34 goals and conceded 25 goals in that order.
They managed to hold Yanga to a 1-1 draw when the two sides met at Majaliwa Stadium in Lindi before the suspension of the league due to coronavirus threat.
It is not a hidden fact that when the contest resumes, Namungo will continue fighting for the second place finish at the end of the season which is also being fought hard by Yanga and Azam FC.
