AfricaPress-Tanzania: A FORMER Simba Sports Club’s publicity secretary, Juma Nkamia has said that he will support newly elected club’s chairman, Murtaza Mangungu in his new responsibilities despite losing yesterday’s elections.
Simba held the election to fill in a vacant post that was left by Sued Nkwabi in September 2019, who resigned for his post to pursue his private issues.
The club later appointed Mwina Kaduguda as an interim chairman before Sunday’s general meeting holding the elections.
Nkamia, who is a former deputy minister of sports and a Member of Parliament (MP) for Chemba constituency said that losing to Mangungu, who is also a former MP for North Kilwa does not change anything for him from loving his club.
“I love Simba because is my club that I will always support, I congratulate Mangungu for winning the post and I will always work on his side and continue supporting the club to maintain our superiority,” said Nkamia, who also thanked members of the club who voted in his favour.
The club’s general meeting voted Mangungu as new club chairman after he garnered 802 out of 1140 cast votes. Nkamia had on the other hand garnered 330 cast votes to lose the elections.
Magungu also thanked Simba members for believing him, promising for successful seasons.
Speaking on the occasion, the club’s chief executive officer, Barbara Gonzalez thanked members, calling for a continued unity among them for the club to achieve more success.
She also thanked the club’s board chairman, Mohammed Dewji, alias ‘Mo’ for playing part in club’s prevailing success and unity.
She reiterated that Simba have concrete plans to make sure that they excel in all major competitions, among others, Mainland Premier League, FA and CAF Champions League. She also announced Fatema Dewji ( with a vast knowledge in marketing ) as patron of Simba Queens.
