AfricaPress-Tanzania: ABHIK Patwa put stellar batting showing as Ngorongoro Titans lifted this season’s Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) Reliance Insurance T20 Super League’s top honour with 25-run win over Tembo Warriors in the final, which took place at Dar es Salaam Gymkhana Club (DGC) oval on Sunday.
Ngorongoro Titans, who had enjoyed an impressive run right from the showpiece’s round robin stage, went in to bat first in the final, notching 160 runs for six wickets in 20 overs.
Patwa, featuring as an opener, put his experience to use, recording 51 runs and clearing the boundary on nine ocassions.
His impressive showing, to a great extent, played pivotal role in the team’s ability to end their innings with the convincing score.
Fellow opener, Nasibu Kelvin Mapunda, who is equally an experienced batsman, lasted a few overs, ending with 17 runs which included two fours.
Mapunda’s scintillating batting displays were instrumental in the side’s progression to the final, as he catapulted them to victory over Kilimanjaro Aces in the last four’s tie.
Harsheed Chohan, slotted in at number three, effectively pushed Ngorongoro Titans’ total, recording 36 runs, which consisted of three fours.
Skipper Ashish Kamania, moreover, made his experience count, as he chipped in with 15 runs, which included two fours.
Youthful players, Arsalaan Premji and Aahil Jasani, also had a few good knocks, posting 13 runs and 11 runs respectively.
Goodluck Andrew and Tambwe Rashid closed the innings with bat in, with the former recording three runs not out.
Youthful performer, Alhaj Sadick, had an impressive showing in Tembo Warriors’ turn with the, given he toook three wickets.
He had a maiden over in his four-over stint, giving away 18 runs and ending with an economy rate of 4.50.
Needing 161 runs to come out with a win, Tembo Warriors found the going tough during their turn with the, given they ended with 135 runs all out in 18.3 overs.
They got off to an impressive start, as solid knocks put to show by openers Jatin Darji and Ivan Ismail saw to it they are in good position in the chase.
Ismail recorded 26 runs whilst Darji nailed 31 runs. They were later pegged back with Issa Kikasi’s early dismissal, with the experienced player ending with 17 runs.
Abdullah Jabiri saw to it Tembo Warriors have an upper hand in the chase for a few overs, notching 26 runs.
Captain Riziki Kizito to some extent boosted Tembo Warriors’ score with his 18 runs.
Tembo Warriors’ chase then waned, as their remaining performers could not live up to expectations, making their way back to the pavilion in quick succession.
Ngorongoro Titans’ medium pacer, Kibwana Salum, played a crucial role in the squad’s ability to frustrate Tembo Warriors’ chase, ending with an impressive five-wicke haul.
Salum, an experienced all-rounder, gave away eight runs in his 2.3-over spell and registered an economy rate of 3.20.
Experienced spinner Rashid had a good outing, taking two wickets for 32 runs in four overs.
Darji was voted as the showpiece’s best player, whilst İsmail was presented with the best batsman honour.
Youthful Mohamed Yunus received the showpiece’s best bowler honour, Salum got the final’s man of the match prize.
