AfricaPress-Tanzania: AFTER sealing a four-year deal to serve Moroccan giants, Wydad Casablanca, Simon Msuva said he was able to attract attention from one of the giant clubs on the continent because of his good performance at Difaa El Jadida.

Msuva, who is now with the national team Taifa Stars ahead of Friday’s Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) match against Tunisia in Tunis, narrated that he is grateful to add one more step to his professional career.

“It is true that I have signed a four-year deal to play for Wydad Casablanca and after the national team assignment, I will join them officially. “To be honest, it was not easy for me to be released by my former club Difaa El Jadida as they still wanted my services but I thank God to make this possible and I am looking forward for the new challenge,” said Msuva via a telephone interview from Tunisia.

He continued: “It was easy for them (Wydad Casablanca) to admire my performance because I play in the same league with them and I have played against them on several occasions but to my former team, it was difficult to get the green light.”

Again, Msuva disclosed that his desire while trading at Difaa El Jadida was to help the team play in big competitions like CAF Champions League (CAF CL) of which he said players get a wide chance to be seen worldwide.

“Difaa El Jadida is a good team and has quality players and I remember that during my first season there, we played in CAF CL even though we did not make it to reach far. “I believe that the work rate I showed in the CAF CL plus scoring a couple of goals helped a lot to sell my potential and also, regular call to play in the national team has added value to my football career,” he said.

Arguably, Wydad Casablanca are among the best top five clubs in Africa and have succeeded to clinch the Morocco league for 20 times.

Their traditional rivals are Raja Casablanca similar to the Young Africans against Simba derby and whenever they faceoff in the Morocco league, real football is displayed.

Meanwhile, pundits have hailed Msuva’s move saying it will enable him to broaden his career and can be a good route for him to reach Europe just like the way Mbwana Samatta did.
