AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE major karate tournament for East African countries is underway for a kick off on December 12 to 13 this year in Dar es Salaam, its organisers have confirmed.

The tournament aims to cement unity among the members of East Africa Community (EAC). There are four nations already confirmed to participate in the tournament.

They are Kenya, Burundi, Rwanda and Tanzania as the host of the tournament.

Speaking to the ‘africa-press’ in Dar es Salaam, the Secretary General of the Tanzania Karate Association, Sensei Jarome Mhagama said preparation is on a top gear for them to stage the event.

“We are still in the process of encouraging people to return to their sporting schedules, and we will also use this opportunity to give our colleagues a special message in collaboration with the Tanzania Sports Council (NSC) to show our visitors how we have won the war against COVID-19 scare. “We are happy as a party to see our clubs reach the international level. Other clubs should also continue to participate in the various organized competitions and seminars on the development of Karate,” said Mhagama.

He also congratulated the karate club under Serengeti Company, backing for the organizing of the tournament, and urged other clubs in the country to follow suit.

Among others the competition also aims to maintain a good neighbourhood.
