AfricaPress-Tanzania: THE leadership of Young Africans has once again blamed unsportsmanship behaviour displayed by some people believed to be team’s supporters who attacked fans wearing Simba jerseys during their match against Mtibwa Sugar at Jamhuri Stadium in Morogoro on Sunday.

This is the second time for the club’s management to react over such similar incidence after another Simba fan was assaulted with his Simba jersey torn to pieces by fans believed to be Yanga supporters during the climax of Wiki ya Mwananchi held at Benjamin Mkapa Stadium in Dar es Salaam recently.

Many people expressed their dissatisfaction over the attack and requested the concerned authorities to take stern measures on fans who took part in the unacceptable behaviour since they were easily identified by the video clips which circulated showing the unfold of the action.

However, according to the press statement from the club signed by Acting General Secretary Simon Patrick, the leadership was deeply touched with the inhumane behaviour conducted by a fan in Yanga attire.

“Apart from being concerned, the management further wishes to discourage such unacceptable incidents which propels to insecurity at football events.

“The management, therefore has requested security organs in the country to thoroughly investigate about the matters and bring to task all those who will be found guilty to have been involved in the malpractice,” reads the statement.

It continues: “At Yanga, we believe that football is entertainment and not enmity as such, supporters should know that Simba are our traditional rivals and not hostile.”

Additionally, the statement thanked all Yanga fans and members from Morogoro and other areas who turned up in big number to cheer their team and contributed to the triumph.

Meanwhile, when reached to comment about the disciplinary action to be taken by the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) over the frequent happening of such intolerable actions in sports, the federation’s Media and Communication Officer Clifford Ndimbo said they are yet to issue their position on the issue.

“For now, we are yet to make our official stand about what has been going on concerning attacks by football fans but soon, we are going to declare our position,” Ndimbo said.
