AfricaPress-Tanzania: EARLY preparation has already started for the Lugalo Ladies Golf Open Championship coming for the first time at Tanzania People’s Defence Forces (TPDF) club course.
The first ever Lugalo Ladies Open is being prepared for the tee off next year, according to the club’s Chairman Michael Luwongo.
Lugalo chairman Luwongo, who was the Chief Guest in the ended Morogoro Ladies Open at Morogoro Gymkhana, has been a good supporter and fan of ladies golf.
Luwongo was first to respond to the call from Tanzania Ladies Golf Union (TGU) to have their event there before consulting the club captain Japhet Masai to help ladies organise the prestigious ladies event next year.
TLGU vice president Anita Siwale, who also serves as a Morogoro Gymkhana Club Ladies section captain, called other clubs to help the Union and the ladies in developing the game.
Siwale said: “I asked other clubs to help the union by organising Ladies Open events at their respective courses. Morogoro has done a good job, but that is not enough.”
Luwongo said they want Lugalo Ladies open to be one of the biggest events capable of inviting golfers from countries.
“I want to assure TLGU that Lugalo will host Ladies Open next year, I took the challenge. I want it to be a memorable one. We will invite golfers from other countries also to give challenge to our local golfers,” he said.
Luwongo thanked Morogoro Ladies Open’s sponsor Vacuna Limited for making the event possible.
“I congratulate Vacuna Limited for coming to rescue the event,” he said.
He also challenged TLGU to set development plan for the next year on time. Luwongo said ladies have all it takes to go further and Lugalo Club is ready to help them reach their goals.
Luwongo also urged ladies to maintain discipline in the game because it is the key of success.
