TPLB: FOOTBALL HEADS FOR NEW DAWN UNDER SAMIA

AfricaPress-Tanzania: TANZANIA Premier League Board (TPLB) said they have big trust in President Samia Suluhu Hassan that she will work tirelessly to uplift football standards in the country.

This was said recently in Dar es Salaam by the board’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Almas Kasongo as he expressed his congratulatory message to the president.

“As football fraternity, we are happy to have a president who loves sports and we strongly believe that she will do a good work to push us forward from where we are now. “She has been able to attend live to some of matches in the league and I believe that she will continue from where she stopped,” Kasongo narrated.

In another development, the TPLB boss disclosed that Mainland Premier League matches are expected to resume from April 8th after the end of 21 official mourning days of the former president John Magufuli. According to him, they have been compelled to shift the resumption date from the initial April 7th because it is the day when the mourning period of 21 days will end.

“Our past fixture showed that on April 3rd and 4th, we were supposed to have Azam Sports Federation Cup (ASFC) games and that from April 6th, top flight league matches were slated to begin unfolding. “As such, the ASFC matches which had to be played on April 3rd and 4th, have been rescheduled as well as the league fixtures planned to be played on April 6th,” he said.

Again, Kasongo pointed out that following frequent adjustments made to the fixtures, the league season is now poised to finish on July 11th and not on June 12th as earlier planned. He also revealed that the board wrote to all teams parading in the league reminding them to take good care of their playing venues throughout the ongoing brief break.

“What I believe is that when games are played on good pitches, the beauty of football is experienced and everybody enjoys the moment,” he said.

He then seized the opportunity to remind club leaders for both top flight league and First Division League (FDL) to adhere to the requirements of the submitted letters to make playing venues comfortable when the footwork actions returns.
