AfricaPress-Tanzania: ZANZIBAR Football Federation (ZFF) has picked Hababuu Ali Omar to manage Zanzibar Heroes team heading to host the World Cup championship for non-FIFA members. Zanzibar has been honoured to host this year’s tournament which will be staged in May this year at Amaan Stadium.

Speaking to media here on Friday, the federation’s Acting Secretary General, Haji Hassan said coach Omar will work together with Sheha Khamis as the assistant coach. Coach Omar replaces Hemed Suleiman Morocco who has been the head coach for quite a long period.

ZFF also named Mohammed Abasi Silima to coach goalkeeper as the process to pick the technical bench was underway.

“We have just named the head, the assistant and the goalkeepers’ coaches to train Zanzibar Heroes for CONIFA tournament, as ZFF remains optimistic all three coaches will help our team to sparkle in the event,” he said.

The winners of the CONIFA tournament will automatically qualify to play in the World Cup whose finals will be staged in Kurdistan in 2022.

Prior to his appointment, Coach Hababuu was a trainer at JMK Park Academy in Dar es Salaam who also trained the National U-17 team, Serengeti Boys that qualified for AFCON finals in Morocco
