Africa-Press – Togo. Over the past five years, the overall traffic at the only Togolese port, Autonomous Port of Lomé, has grown by 34.6%, increasing in particular from 22 million tonnes of goods in 2018 to 30 million in 2022.
This was revealed last week by the Minister of Maritime Economy, Kokou Edem Tengue. According to him, this growth occurs thanks to the reforms and investments made in recent years at the Port of Lomé.
The Port saw its status as a regional logistics hub consolidated, with a consolidated 4th place in the top 10 container ports in Africa.
In terms of turnover, the Port has thus gone from 29 billion FCFA (about $47M) in 2018, to 39 billion ($63M) in 2022, according to figures published by the government.
