Africa-Press – Uganda. The People’s Progressive Party (PPP) has shifted its focus from Kampala to grassroots development, establishing strongholds in regions such as Kasese, Tororo, Acholi, and Pader.
Despite its headquarters being in the capital, PPP’s leadership says it is concentrating efforts on building loyal, committed members rather than seeking immediate visibility in Kampala’s political limelight.
Party chairperson Saddam Gayira explained that PPP’s strategy focuses on fostering trust and loyalty at the community level, which, he believes, will yield long-term results.
“We are not here to chase after popularity; we are building a foundation of loyalty and trust, and in the end, results will speak louder than numbers,” Gayira said.
The party, which boasts around 7,000 committed members, has avoided inflating its numbers. Instead, PPP is focused on laying the groundwork for future success, with tangible results to follow.
Gayira pointed to areas like Pader, where PPP secured a Member of Parliament in Okot Santa, as proof that their strategy is paying off.
PPP has also invested heavily in regions such as Tororo, Kasese, Soroti, and Acholi, with Gayira confident of further gains in these areas.
The party is now preparing for its national delegates’ conference, which is set to take place in four months.
