Africa-Press – Uganda. The Kitagwenda Town Council Chairperson, Patrick Turyamureba alias Payi, has been successfully nominated as the Vice Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for Kitagwenda District.
Turyamureba’s nomination comes after a clean sweep in the recent NRM internal structures, where he was declared unopposed at both the Town Council and LC1 levels following the withdrawal of his rivals from the races.
“I am grateful for the trust the people and party structures have shown me. Being nominated unopposed is a great vote of confidence,” Turyamureba told in an exclusive interview.
He emphasized that his leadership will prioritize transparency and development within the NRM framework in Kitagwenda. “If I’m entrusted with the mandate, I will spearhead good governance and strengthen the party’s presence at all levels,” he added.
Turyamureba also revealed his ambition to rise to the highest party position in the district. “My next target is to become the NRM district chairperson for Kitagwenda. I believe I am ready and capable of serving the party and my people at that level,” he said confidently.
According to the NRM electoral roadmap, the election for the district chairperson seat is scheduled for May 28, 2025.
Turyamureba’s political journey and unopposed nominations reflect a growing base of support within the ruling party, making him a key figure to watch in the upcoming NRM district leadership elections.
