Africa-Press – Uganda. MTN Uganda has once again positioned itself as a strategic partner in driving government-led digital transformation, with bold commitments and innovative solutions shared during the recently held MTN ICT Government Roundtable.

Addressing the forum, Sylvia Mulinge, the CEO of MTN Uganda, emphasised that scaling connectivity, security, storage, and inclusivity are no longer optional but critical components of any government’s digital agenda.

She affirmed MTN’s role as a “reliable and trusted partner,” committed to enabling what she called “unstoppable impact and progress” through collaboration with government and other stakeholders.

Mulinge reiterated that scalable and sustainable transformation must be anchored in technology, highlighting the need for integrated solutions such as fintech platforms that not only drive efficiency but also enhance service delivery.

She noted that MTN is actively scaling digital inclusion, working to simplify revenue collection, and improving audibility and track ability of digital transactions all to boost operational efficiency across sectors.

Looking beyond borders, Mulinge pointed to the immense opportunity within the East African region. She shared that MTN is now better positioned to leverage its growing suite of digital payment platforms.

A key enabler of this ambition is MTN’s partnership with Bayobab, which now provides a new digital route — enhancing broadband delivery and meeting the evolving needs of the citizenry.

Richard Yego, CEO of MTN Mobile Money, reinforced MTN’s dedication to financial digital inclusion, revealing that digital loans have more than tripled, with a portfolio now exceeding Shs 1.5 trillion.

He noted that such discussions between government and the private sector signal a shared intent to accelerate inclusion and innovation.

Echoing the same sentiment, Ibrahim Senyonga, General Manager of MTN Business, said the telco has evolved in tandem with the growing needs of its customers.

He highlighted MTN’s core mission to enable government to work smarter and faster, especially in reaching underserved populations.

With a strong focus on scalability, security, trust, and collaboration, Senyonga assured stakeholders of MTN’s readiness to deliver impactful solutions with purpose.

The roundtable demonstrated how public-private partnerships can unlock the potential of digital ecosystems, providing a blueprint for sustainable growth and inclusion in Uganda and across the region.

As MTN continues to innovate and build strategic alliances, the future of digitally empowered governance looks more promising than ever.
