Africa-Press – Uganda. People’s Front for Freedom (PFF) Electoral Commission Chairperson, Michael Kabaziguruka, has accused leaders at the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) headquarters in Najjanankumbi of abandoning the party’s founding ideals.
Kabaziguruka, a founding member of the FDC, said the party was originally established as a platform for political struggle and democratic change, but claimed that the current leadership at Najjanankumbi has compromised those principles.
“We formed FDC as a struggle platform. Despite the fact that our colleagues at Najjanankumbi decided to sell it out, our purpose hasn’t changed,” Kabaziguruka said.
The remarks come amid ongoing tensions and divisions within the FDC, which has seen rival factions emerge in recent years. The PFF, led by former FDC president Dr. Kizza Besigye, has positioned itself as an alternative force committed to what they describe as the original mission of confronting authoritarianism and promoting democratic governance.
Leaders at Najjanankumbi have previously dismissed accusations of betrayal, maintaining that the party remains focused on constitutional means to achieve political change.
The deepening rift within Uganda’s opposition landscape continues to raise questions about unity and the future direction of one of the country’s most prominent opposition parties.
