Africa-Press – Uganda. A section of enthusiastic NRM delegates from the twelve districts of West Nile and Arua City have unanimously endorsed the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Anita Annet Among, for the position of 2nd National Vice Chairperson (Female) on the NRM party ticket.

Running under the slogan “Tested, Tried, and Reliable,” Among has promised to promote party unity, strengthen service delivery, and ensure inclusive leadership.

The endorsement was made during a high-level consultative meetings across districts in the West Nile region attended by party leaders, Members of Parliament, and grassroots mobilisers who expressed strong confidence in her leadership track record.

Charles Akuku Anzo, the NRM Chairperson for Adjumani District, praised Among’s deep commitment to the Movement’s values and her potential to influence national policy in favor of marginalised regions like West Nile.

“Rt. Hon. Among is a symbol of tested leadership and political maturity. We in West Nile believe that with her voice on the Central Executive Committee, the challenges in our region—such as poor roads, healthcare gaps, and education needs—will get more national attention,” Akuku stated.

Delegates also emphasised that Among’s current role as Speaker of Parliament gives her unique leverage to champion equitable service delivery, particularly in hard-to-reach communities.

Among’s five-point campaign blueprint includes, enhancing party visibility and legacy, building strong coalitions for progress, supporting grassroots transformation, promoting accessible and affordable healthcare and deepening youth and women engagement.

In her written message to the delegates in West Nile region Among reflected on her upbringing in Bukedea, stating that her grassroots background enables her to relate to everyday citizens.

“Raised in a humble background, I have walked the journey of ordinary Ugandans. I will translate complex policies into better schools, safer clinics, and cleaner water points,” she emphasised in her campaign message.

Arinaitwe Rwakajara, the Workers’ MP and newly elected CEC member who also serves on Among’s campaign task force, urged the West Nile delegates to support a leader whose results speak louder than promises.

“This campaign is not just about occupying a position. It’s about putting the right person in a place of influence. Rt. Hon. Anita Among has built consensus across divides, supported youth and women, and kept Parliament stable even in turbulent times,” Rwakajara noted.

Adding her voice to the endorsement, Anna Mercy Iziku, NRM Chairperson for Pakele Town Council and Secretary for Female Affairs, described Among as the most suitable candidate for the role.

“Among is the best choice. As women leaders, we see in her a champion who understands our realities and fights for our inclusion in national development. Her leadership will uplift many,” Iziku said.

Among’s policy commitments include, boosting rural health centres, especially maternal and child health services, expanding youth livelihood access through Emyooga, PDM, and SACCOs, bridging citizen-leadership gaps by working with civil society, cultural, and faith-based institutions and empowering women and youth through innovation hubs, sports, and leadership platforms.

She also pledged to simplify and defend NRM policies with real-life community stories and to preserve the legacy of President Museveni.

The endorsement ended with calls for continued mobilisation across the region to solidify support for Among’s candidature, which many say will bring new energy and inclusivity to the NRM’s Central Executive Committee.
