Africa-Press – Uganda. The quartet of Enock Ogembo, Eleanor Wambui, John Kibet, and M.M. Macharia emerged as the overall team winners of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour held on Saturday at the par-73 Nakuru Golf Club.

The four-ball posted a combined score of 114 points, outshining the team of Stephen Macharia, Micah Thuo, Javan Muriithi, and William Kariuki, who came second with 111 points.

The event attracted a field of 228 golfers, all vying for glory on a wet and challenging course. Speaking during the prize-giving ceremony, Ogembo expressed satisfaction with the team’s preparation and performance.

“I want to say that I am very happy for this win. We have been practicing for this tournament. I have a solid team. Tomorrow, we head into another competition to sharpen our skills. We will bring the cup home at the tour’s grand finale,” he said.

Individual Standouts

In the individual categories, handicap 28 golfer Stephen Ibwaga claimed the overall winner’s prize with an impressive 44 stableford points. He edged out Francis Wanjohi (handicap 19), who won the men’s category with 41 points.

Eleanor Wambui, playing off handicap 15, put in a stellar performance to win the ladies’ category with 38 points, beating a large field that battled through rain on the course.

Among the KCB staff, Ibrahim Lande (handicap 11) emerged as the best, returning 39 points to edge out Anthony Mulisa (25) on countback.

In the juniors’ category, Cassius Pennington (21) rose to the occasion, winning with a solid 43 points.

The guest category was claimed by William Kariuki of Njoro Golf Club (handicap 17) with 41 points.

Dr. Terra Saidimu and Florence Wafula walked away with the longest drive honors in the men’s and ladies’ categories, respectively.

Beyond the Fairways

KCB also hosted a juniors’ golf clinic on Sunday at the same venue, aiming to nurture the next generation of golf talent. A tree-planting drive was held alongside the clinic to reinforce the bank’s commitment to sustainability as part of the regional tour.

Earlier today, the bank hosted a special round for over 100 caddies at the Nakuru Golf Club. This is part of KCB’s broader strategy to promote inclusivity and engage every stakeholder involved in the sport through the East Africa Golf Tour.
