Mubende NRM Primary Losers Rally Behind one Candidate

Africa-Press – Uganda. Following a series of complaints from various NRM candidates who lost in the party primaries, many have today publicly announced their next move—agreeing to support one independent, NRM-leaning candidate to “rescue” their victories in 2026.

Among them is Faridah Bigirimaana Uwamahoro, who contested for the Woman MP seat for Mubende District and lost to Hope Grania Nakazibwe.

The race consisted of three candidates: incumbent Hope Grania Nakazibwe, Topsita Tindimwebwa, and Faridah Bigirimaana Uwamahoro.

Bigirimaana, who came third in the race with over 10,000 votes, has publicly announced that she will rally behind Tindimwebwa, who came second.

She said, “We have agreed that she will come as an independent in 2026, and I now want to inform the public that I will support Tindimwebwa to rescue our victory.”

Bigirimaana also claimed that MP Nakazibwe did not actually defeat her or Tindimwebwa.

She explained, “I want to tell you that Grania never won against either of us. What they did was make the one who had won come last, and the one who lost was given first place. So, we must rescue our victory.”

She went on to forgive Tindimwebwa for any wrongs committed during the campaigns, saying a lot was said in the heat of politics.

“I know she is my sister, and all she was alleging were lies, but I want to tell the public that I have forgiven her because she is my neighbour in our village,” Bigirimaana added.

Another candidate who lost in the primaries is Ali Ayebazibwe, who contested for LCV chairperson.

Ayebazibwe announced that he will support Vicent Gahanga Tumusiime Kissanja, claiming that Micheal Ntambi “stole” Kissanja’s victory.

He stated, “I know my brother Kissanja won, but the victory was given to Ntambi. I am advising him to come as an independent so I can support him, because we even traversed the district together during campaigns.”

Currently, the defeated candidates are waiting for the tribunal to deliver its ruling, where Tindimwebwa has petitioned against Nakazibwe and Kissanja has petitioned against Ntambi.
